COMPETITIVE SWIMMING PROGRAM

​

The Competitive Age Program at Sydney Uni caters for swimmers across 6 levels aged 9 years and over who have met the entry standard for the squad relative to their ability. The program follows the long course summer season and the short course winter season, with breaks occurring at the end of summer and the end of winter. Squad fees are paid monthly. Swimmers in the competitive are encouraged to be Club members and are targeted to external competitions such as MetSEA, Metro and State Championships.  Entry into the program is by pre-arranged trial, with the final decision at the discretion of the coaching staff.

Open/Varsity Squad: (4 – 8 Sessions per week) - $100 per Month plus $20 annual membership

 

This squad was created to offer University Aged Athletes the opportunity to train with their peers in a competitive and non-competitive environment relevant to their goals and aspirations. This squad has a wide range of athlete which consist of our Scholarship athletes preparing for National and International competitions, Triathletes, pentathletes and surf athletes, through to former athletes continuing to train for fitness and wellbeing. One thing in common, they all love the sport and see no reason why you cannot swim well into your 20’s and remain competitive.

 

National Target Squad: (6 – 8 Sessions per week) - $180 per Month plus $20 annual membership

 

The focus of this squad is to produce the best results possible at State Age and National Age championships each year. The goal of this squad is to manage the swimmers through High School and transition them to the Varsity Program. The minimum age will come in line with the new National direction being 13 years for females and 14 years for males. There is a real emphasis on “racing” with the skills of swimming in this squad.

  

State Age Squad: (4 – 6 Sessions per week) - $170 per Month plus $20 annual membership

 

The focus of this squad is to assist swimmers between the ages of 12-18 qualify for and perform at a high level at the NSW State Age Championships. There is a real emphasis performance within this squad through “training” the skills of swimming.

 

State Age Transition Squad: (4 – 5 Sessions per week) - $160 per Month plus $20 annual membership

The State Age Transition Squad was recently introduced to assist young athletes from the Junior Competitive stream transition smoothly into the State Age Squad. The goal of this squad is to assist State Age Performers from the Emerging squad continue to achieve at a the NSW Senior State Age Championships. This squad trains with a combination of both the Emerging & State Age Squads within a week. 

 

Emerging Squad: (4 – 5 Sessions per week) - $160 per Month plus $20 annual membership

 

The focus of this squad is to see young swimmers qualify for the Junior State Age Championships. Targeting our 10 to 12 year old talented swimmers, there is a real emphasis on “developing” the skills of swimming in this squad whilst introducing them into them to external competitions. 

 

Junior Emerging Squad: (3 – 4 Sessions per week) - $150 per Month plus $20 annual membership

 

The focus of this squad is to build the confidence of your young swimmers who show potential. We want to prepare them with all the right tools to take their swimming journey to the next step into racing and preparing them for the Emerging Squad. Targeting our 10 & Under talented swimmers, there is a real emphasis on “learning” the skills of swimming in this squad whilst introcuding them to local Club Night Competitions.

Non-Competitive Squads

Swim Fit: (2 – 5 Sessions per week) - $115 (2 Sessions) or $150 (3+ Sessions) per Month plus $20 annual membership

​

The focus of this squad is to enable teenagers to continue to enjoy the fitness aspect of swimming whilst not having the pressures of having to compete. It is a big focus of us here at Sydney Uni to empower our swimmers to achieve at what they excel in, whether that be in another sport or at school. This squad is often the bridge between competitive and non-competitive swimming and many swimmers use this squad as they progress through higher school exams.

LEARN TO SWIM

​

The Learn to Swim Program is focused on providing children and adults the opportunity to develop a strong relationship with the water by ensuring that participants experience the water in a supported and enjoyable way. Our program is designed to build on previous skill competencies in the water. This, in combination with small class sizes, ensure that swimmers are remain engaged and confident whilst still being challenged. Students are graded regularly throughout the term and feedback is provided regarding their progress.
